The Clearing House Mechanism (CHM) is the central information, communication and cooperation system under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Through the CHM, the parties to the CBD aim to promote scientific and technological cooperation between all countries and support exchange of and access to information and data on the CBD’s implementation.

The  German Clearing House Mechanism Information Platform is the German subsection of the CHM and provides the interface to the global CBD information network. Among other things, the platform provides documents, a calendar of events and information on CBD topics and current activities specifically of interest to German readers. Users can also post information that others may find interesting or important. This reciprocal ‘give and take’ (information input and information retrieval) is key to the proper working of the CHM.
