Policy-related Indicators Measure the Effectiveness of the German National Strategy on Biological Diversity; Side Event presented the indicator set of the National Strategy at COP 9 CBD on 21st May 2008

On the occasion of the 9th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, the new booklet  “Policy-related Indicators Measure the Effectiveness of the German National Strategy on Biological Diversity” (pdf-file, 2,3 MB)  was published by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation. The booklet was distributed at a special Side Event informing about the scope of the indicator set of the National Strategy and the selection and construction of the indicators. Nineteen indicators have been selected to estimate how successful the objectives of the German National Strategy on Biological Diversity will be met in the future. The indicators outline the multilayered, complex data and make trends recognisable. Performance reviews will take place at regular intervals. In future, the German government will present a report on the current situation for every legislative period.
